Spurs Beaten In Soccer Cup Tie
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) „ . LONDON. Tottenham Hotspur, the English F.A. Cup winner in 1960-61 and 1961-62, was beaten 2-1 in the fifth round of this year's competition by the second division club, Preston North End, on Saturday. The other fancied teams ail got through to the quarterfinals, but two first division s-ides, Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers, have to play their second division opponents, Manchester City and Norwich City, respectively, in replays. Both the second division sides were trailing by two goals at half-time, but drew level in the second period. The league champion. Man Chester United, two goals down after only nine minutes, came back magnificently to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers, 4 2 Chelsea, which knocked out the holder and beaten finalist Liverpool and Leeds United, in earlier rounds, had a struggle to defeat the third division club, Shrewsbury, 3-2. The Scottish Cup holder, Celtic. was trailing 1-2 against Hearts at half-time in their quarter final match, but Celtic fought back to gain a 3-3 draw. Results: ENGLISH CUP Fifth Round.—Chelsea 3.
