TROTTING £5l00 Easter Cup At Royal Meeting
The £5lOO final of the Easter Cup will be the feature race at the meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club to be attended by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother at Addington Raceway on Saturday, April 23.
The visit of the Queen Mother to Addington Raceway was announced yesterday by the Minister of Internal Affairs (MrSeath).
Stakes totalling £29,500 would be distributed at the three meetings. The qualifying heats for trotters would all be run over 13 furlongs for a stake of £lOOO, while the final, over two miles, would carry a stake of £2OOO and a trophy valued at £5O. The heats for pacers would carry stakes of £1250 and would be run over 10 furlongs and two miles. The final would be run over 13 furlongs, said Mr Parker.
The Metropolitan club will now hold its Easter meeting on April 2, 9 and 23. The April 2 meeting will be held at night.
