COUNCILLOR PROTESTS

Decisions Not Applied Why had a temporary speed restriction not been applied on Shand's road during sewerlaying operations? asked Cr. A. Y. Shuker, at last night’s meeting of the Paparua County Council. On December 6, he said, the council had decided to impose a temporary 15 m.p.h. restriction and to prohibit parking in Shand’s road. “No ‘parking” signs had been put i up on December 14, but were taken away on December 17. No speed limit had been imposed, nor had the notices reappeared. Cr. A. T. Stevenson said that the sewer contractors had hired a County grader to improve the road, but the machine had not been able to work because of parked cars. “I am very concerned that couiicil decisions are not being carried out,” said Cr. Shuker.

The chairman (Mr R. J. Roberts) said he would seek the answer from the engineering department
