SEVEN OAKS DRIVE WINS
Best Street In Waimairi Seven. t>aks drive was chosen yesterday afternoon as the best street for 1966 in the Waimairi district. The county chairman (Mr O. C. Mitchell), who was one of the judges, said that for a new street Seven Oaks drive was a credit to its residents and worthy of the prize. A tremendous amount of work had been done there. The competition was arranged by the Christchurch Beautifying Association with the co-operation of the Waimairi County Council. Mr Mitchell said that Rochford place had been selected as the street which would go on to this year’s Christchurch area final. It was not considered for the local prize because it had won last year. Another street not entered this year was Royds street, said Mr Mitchell. It had previously won on three occasions.
“It is still undoubtedly the best street in Christchurch,” he said. "I commend the residents for their sustained community interest.” Results of yesterday’s judging were: Seven Oaks drive 1, Wayside avenue 2, Wai-iti street 3, Guildford street and Burwood road (equal) highly commended.
