TASHKENT PACT

I Criticism In Pakistan (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LAHORE, Feb. 7. Four of Pakistan's main opposition parties today denounced the Tashkent agreement, declaring it a slight on national honour and dignity. They said President Ayub Khan’s Government had violated popular feeling over Kashmir by the no-war declaration he and Mr Lal Bahadur Shastri, of India, signed in Tashkent last month. More than 700 opposition delegates attended the meeting at which a resolution critical of the Tashkent agreement was passed. They called for an end to the state of emergency imposed during the conflict with India over Kashmir last September. Delegates came from the Awami League, Nizame Islam —led by a former Prime Minister. Chaudri Mohammed Ali, the Right-wing jamaati Islam, and the Council Muslim League—a splinter group of the ruling Muslim League.
