TALKS IN PARIS
Erhard And De Gaulle
(N Z.P.A.-Reuter-Copyright > I PARIS, Feb. 7. Chancellor Ludwig Erhard and President de Gaulle begin two days of private talks today against a background of continuing differences between West Germany and France.
The two countries are at odds over problems ranging from defence to the future course of European co-opera-tion.
Dr. Erhard said in a television broadcast before he left Bonn for Paris that he was going with an open mind for the sixth series of talks under the Franco-German friendship treaty. He said that the Common Market Foreign Ministers* compromise agreement in Luxembourg last month would be the starting point for talks on further development of the Common Market and increased European political co-operation. Other subjects would be Elast-West relations and the proposed reorganisation of N.A.T.0., he said.
