BOARD NEAR ILAM

Students From Overseas Twenty-four new arrivals from Sabah, Sarawak,'Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam will be added to the growing contingent of overseas students studying at the Canterbury University, the Teachers’ College and the Technical College this year. Most of these will be studying engineering or science at Ham. Some of these students will be billeted in hostels, but for the others accommodation as paying guests in private homes is required. A number of people who have had overseas students as their guests previously will welcome students again this year: but some additional homes are required as with the move of the science faculty, many previously suitable homes, are now at too great a distance from Ham.

In Wellington before coming to Christchurch the new arrivals are given an intensive orientation course regarding the New Zealand way of life. Pleasant single rooms are preferred with facilities for study. While in New Zealand students are under the care of the External Aid Division of External Affairs. People who would like to help should get in touch with the Canterbury Public Relations Office.
