ROYAL TOUR CRITICISED

“Beatles Did Better Job” (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, February 6. If Princess Margaret’s recent United States visit was made to boost Britain’s exports, then the Beatles had done a better job at less cost to the public, the House of Commons was told on Friday. A constant critic of Royalty, Mr William Hamilton, Labour member for West Fife, Scotland, was complaining about the £31,000 cost of the tour. Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon made a coast-to-coast tour of the United States last November. Mr Hamilton complained that riie tour served no useful purpose and cost the British taxpayer too much money. He got around Parliamentary rules forbidding criticism of Royalty by quoting adverse newspaper comment.
