Whaka Visitors
An estimated 142,000 persons visited the Whakarewarewa thermal area in the year ending February 1, the first year the area has been under the control of the Rotorua Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. Mr P. H. Leonard, director of the institute, said tbe official figure for persons who had paid admission was 139,478. “However, this is not the true picture for it does not include extra persons admitted on family concession tickets. There would be about 2000 persons in this category.”—(P.A.).
