Lane Walker Has Big Sales Lift
Consolidated sales of Lane, Walker, Rudkin Industries, Ltd., Christchurch-based manufacturers of knitwear, hosiery, sportswear and tailored clothing, rose by about £200,000 in the six months to December 19, compared with the same half of the year before.
Directors say this in their interim report released yesterday. Forward bookings for the remaining six months show a satisfactory increase on those for the second half of the 1965 financial year.
Subsidiaries in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington have again operated successfully and contributed to the improved sales position.
New warehouse facilities provided in Auckland and Wellington have proved to be of considerable' assistance in enabling the company to more fully participate in the growth potential of the North Island market. As a continuation of the policy of providing adequate showroom and selling facilities on a permanent basis, a property has been purchased in Dunedin and it is proposed to erect a modern building soon.
In Christchurch some 18,000 square feet has been added to the company’s Sydenham plant to provide for the expansion in manufacturing activities. Dominion Yarns and Fabrics, Ltd., continues to operate at full capacity with its forward output fully booked. Interim 5 per cent dividend, announced earlier, will be paid on March 4.
Last year’s 5 per cent interim was followed by a final 7i per cent, making a steady 12i per cent for the year.
