Each officer will have memorised the faces of 60 of the most successful foreign rogues from pictures supplied by European police. Any “con” man sighted would be taken aside, warned to behave himself, and shadowed while in the country. Elaborate precautions were being taken to foil ticket rorgers, the “News of the World” said.
About 2.400 000 tickets had been printed for the series and their whereabouts was a close-ly-guarded secret. The Wor'd Cup matches will be held in London, Manchester. Liverpool. Birmingham. Sunderland, Sheffield aid Middlesborough.
