Bandon, Laramie Best Awapuni Trialists
"The Press" Special Sendee PALMERSTON NORTH. Bandon and Laramie were responsible for excellent trials at Awapuni yesterday i-n preparation for the Wellington Cup. Bandon beat Royal Sheen easily over six furlongs on the inside trial and in spite of a great weight disadvantage Laramie was too good for Dowdex oyer a mile on the plough. Serena, Plantation and Prince d’Amour were the best of the sprinters. On the plough Laramie galoped well to beat Dowdex at he end of a solidly-run mile in Imin 46 2-ssec, the last three urlongs in 39 4-ssec and the first three in 41sec. On the inside trial Bandon de-
lighted hl® supporters when he beat Royal Sheen comfortably over six furlongs in Imin 16 3-ssec, the last three in 38sec. They started easily from the mile and a quarter. Bandon excelled and must have a good chance in the cup. On the course proper Prince d'Amour ran half a mile in 51sec, the last three furlongs in 38sec. His appearance in the Wellington Stakes is causing much interest.
Serena and Plantation were impressive when they ran half a mile in 50£®ec, the last three furlongs in Msec. This was a good trial and Serena has freshened nicely for the Wellington Stakes. Plantation i® in fine form for the Telegraph Handicap.
