MEETING IN LONDON

New Zealand Society

[From the London correspondent of “The Press.”]

Mr Hector McNeil, formerly of Invercargill and Christchurch, was installed as president of the New Zealand Society at its recent annual general meeting in London. Mr McNeil is managing director of Babcock and Wilcox, Ltd., the large British engineering and contracting firm. The retiring president of the society was Mr Alexander Ross.

Mr Sydney J. Headworth, who had been honarary secretary since 1959, retired due to ill-health and was replaced by Mr V. G. H. Jones.

Other officers are: vicepresidents. Messrs D. L. M. Martin, and J. A. MacConochie, treasurer, Mr L. F. Brown: general committee, Messrs E. P. Haslam, J. W. Rodden, A. Trevor Campbell. J. M. Butler. A. D. Luke, G. L. Davies, H. M. Buchanan, G. S. Cox, Alexander Ross, and Sir Arthur Porritt
