Warm Week-end Christchurch had warm i sunny weather with high temi peratures and moderate winds during the week-end. At Harewood on Saturday at 9 a.m., 58 degrees was recorded, rising to 63 degrees at noon and to 64 degrees at 3 p.m. The highest temperature recorded was 66 degrees between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. On Sunday 65 degrees was recorded at 9 a.m., 71 degrees at noon, and 80 degrees at 3 p.m. Between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. the maximum temperature, 84 degrees, was recorded, falling to 82 degrees by 4 p.m. The winds on both days were moderate north-easterlies. Temperatures soared in Ashburton yesterday to the highest point this summer when 90.3 degrees was recorded at the Ashburton Domain.
Rare Coins The 1662 crown, minted in England after King Charles 11 changed the system of striking coins, on display at the North Otago Pioneer Gallery is not the only one in New Zealand. [Mr A. L. L. Smith, of Christi church, owns two as well as j several other crowns of later i minting.

Further Extension Mr R. H. Stillwell, who each Christmas provides an attraction by extensively lighting and decorating his Selwyn street home, has decided to extend the display for yet another week. He was originally going to take the decorations down last week-end, but extended the season to this week-end. The further extension was because crowds were still coming, Mr Stillwell said last evening. In addition to the decorations a theatrette will be showing, and Japanese mechanical toys will be on display from 8 p.m. each evening.
