One Woman In Four Uses The Pill
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 16. Oral contraceptives are being used in increasing numbers in New Zealand.
Doctors in Wellington say prescriptions for the pill are increasing in numbers all the time. One in every four women of child-bearing age uses the pill. They are being obtained at the rate of more than 150,000 a month and the rate is rising. A six-month review of ’he pill has been completed by a New Zealand medical committee, which says it has found nothing to incriminate the pill. It has found there are “not' sufficient side effects to caused any concern.” About 2000 doctors throughout New Zealand co-operated . with the committee by looking for any possible side; effects of the pill. The chairman of the com-, kmittee (Dr. Malcolm, Watt);
said observations would continue for some time.
The committee’s report has been circulated to general practitioners.
