SHIP SINKS IN BALTIC

Captain StiU On Board (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) STOCKHOLM, Jan. 14. The Finnish ship Kuutsalo of Lahti, sank in the Baltic, north-west of Gotska, Sandoen Island, early today. The captain and the first mate were still on the ship when she went under. The crew of 17 were taken aboard the West German freighter Eros earlier during the night. The Finnish ship radioed for assistance after the rudder was damaged last night. She started to list and to take in water fast as the Eros began taking off the crew.

Weather in the area was bad.
