Westport Harbour

Sir, —The beginning of the Westport harbour project should herald the end of Labour Party support in the Buller district. After 50 years of loyal support of the Labour Party, during which on a number of occasions promises were made to improve the harbour, it has been left to the National Government to do the job. During the term of the last Labour Government when the Buller district was badly neglected, realisation grew of the hollowness of Labour Party promises. Labour’s one-time large majority has been turned into a marginal one. One good “push” next November would bring an end to Labour representation with its emply pre-election promises.—Yours, etc., DISILLUSIONED LABOURITE, Westport, January 13.
