Castro Replies To Chinese

The Cuban Minis ry of Commerce has rejected China’s assertions that the Cuban P.M., Dr. Castro, l ed about China’s cutback in exports of rice to the island. A Ministry statement said China’s refusal to sell 250,000 tons of rice to Cuba this year dealt “a hard and unexpected blow” to the island’s economy.
“There is nothing extraordinary about Cuba’s revolutionary Government explaining to its people the consequences due to the abrupt reduction of more than 40 million pesos (about £18,000,000) in imports from the Chinese People’s Republic in comparison to the previous year,” the statement said.
