No Uniformity On Deadline

The Waimairi, Paparua, Heathcote and Halswell County Councils, in a joint advertisement published today will notify their ratepayers that Wednesday, February 16, will be the last day for payment of rates in each county without penalty. The Christchurch City Council and Riccarton Borough Council have fixed Wednesday, March 2, as the last day for payment of their rates 'without penalty. For some years, all rates for metropolitan local bodies fell due on the same date. This year, the city fixed a later date, and discussions afterwards to try to get uniformity failed.
