“ONLY BASE NEEDED"

Theatre In N.Z. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 14. New Zealand actors and actresses had a great deal of potential but should be working with the local theatre instead of being in London. This is the opinion of Mr Gareth Morgan, a 25-year-old Welsh-born actor and director, who arrived in Auckland today.

He will produce Clifford Williams's version of “The Comedy of Errors” for the New Zealand Theatre Centre. The play will, go on a sevenweek national tour.

Mr Morgan said it should be possible to build a very strong theatre company in New Zealand. Elaborate premises where productions could be staged were unnecessary. All that was needed was a base from which to branch out.
