Brian Kilby, of Britain, the Commonwealth and European marathon champion, yesterday described as “nonsense” the decision that will cost him one of his titles this year without the chance of defending it. The British Amateur Athletic Board has said that different marathon runners will compete ait the Commonwealth Games in Jamaica and the European championships in Budapest because the strain of two races in one month would be too great. “This is nonsense,” Kilby said. “Provided a runner was fit enough, it would not be asking too much for him to tackle the two races.
