South Island Tour

Sir.—ln reply to a tourist’s complaint (“The Press,” January 12) about a tour of the South Island, and the letter of Mr Beckett of the Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company we would like to say that we took a tour last month of the southern portion of the South Island, and the arrangements made by Trans Tours were excellent in every way, except at the Otematata Hotel. We complain of the same things as “Disgruntled Tourist.” imagine our surprise when we ordered fish and bacon and eggs for breakfast to receive an infinitesimal portion of smoked fish served on the same plate as the bacon and egg—unheard of in a first-class hotel. We think Trans Tours deserve high praise for the way they carry out all their promises, and for their drivers, who are wonderful in the way that they look after their passengers and stop at any place that they think would interest them.—Yours, etc., SATISFIED TOURISTS. January 13, 1966.
