FREEDOM OF TWO CITIES
Regiment To Be Honoured
I The 2nd Battalion of the ißoyal New Zealand Infantry . Regiment will receive the freedom of the cities of Christchurch and Timaru at | a charter parade at Burnham (camp next Monday. I The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr G. Manning) and Town 'Clerk (Mr C. S. Bowie) will j attend the ceremony with ( representatives of the Timaru I City Band. ' Christchurch last conferred I the freedom of the city on (the Canterbury Regiment in 1959. Charters from the two citlies detailing the rights and (privileges of the freer’ .m of the city will be presented durling the ceremony next MonIday. . It will be one of the funcItions, held during a threeI week territorial camp for (about 1500 soldiers which starts tomorrow.
i The camp will include a I mock battle between battallions and a brigade group at Lees Valley. I Other units will be engaged •at Fairlie removing trees from the army magazine area, building a suspension bridge j across the ice-skating rink at iStaveley and a three-span I bridge on the Godley Peak 'station at the headwaters of I Lake Tekapo.
