Recording Club Branch Planned For City
A branch of the Australian Tape Recording Association is to be set up in Christchurch. The organiser is Mr Warren Prescott, of Riccarton, who has been appointed New Zealand representative of the Australian association. Mr Prescott said that one of the principal aims of the club was to record letters and messages for people who are [ unable to write and send them [to other people. I During the last four years [he had been taping letters for [a girl in hospital with paralysis and for blind people. Other club activities would be to record information and ideas on any of a wide range of hobbies and seiid them to members of tape recording clubs in other countries. Waiting List Mr Prescott said such clubs had memberships overseas. In Australia there were more than 600 members in all States and a waiting list to jjoin. I A branch of the Australian I club in Christchurch would [give members access to an expensive library of tapes dealing with all types of subjects. A centre is to be opened in
the city as soon as the club is formed, either next month or in March. Mr Prescott said that the Australian president would be invited to Christchurch to officially open the club. Those interested are invited to contact Mr Prescott at 455 Ham road or ring 517-188.
