ATTACK ON BROTHER
S.M. Blames Drink (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 12. Mr W. J. Meade, S.M., today sentenced Fanahemotu Tuisimenini, aged 32, a workman, to 18 months’ imprisonment for a “brutal and continued attack” on his brother. Tuisimenini was appearing for sentence on a charge that on December 22, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, he injured Tomai Ihulia. “Your brother was taken to hospital in a serious condition,” said the Magistrate. “Fortunately, however, his skull was not broken, even though he required 30 stitches in wounds in his head. “It was a brutal and continued attack. “Fortunately it appears that your brother will not suffer serious ill-effects from the assault. “It is clear that you com- | pletely lost control of yourself. That, 1 am satisfied, was due in part to the considerable quantity of drink you had had that day. “Whatever complaints you may have thought you had against your brother, they could in no way justify the violence that you used on him.”
