ORBITER SOLD

Price Over 100,000 Doi. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND New Zealand’s champion pacer, Orbiter, has been sold to a New York syndicate. The price is understood to be well in excess of 100,000 dollars. Until transport is arranged) to the United States Orbiter will remain in the care of his former owner, Mr W. L. Bagrie, of Christchurch. He will probably contest the Dunedin Festival Cup series at Forbury Park later in the month for his new owners.

A six-year-old gelding by U Scott from Margaret Hall, Orbiter has won five of his last six races. In one of these he broke the New Zealand race record for a flying mile. Altogether he has had 16 wins and 23 minor placings from 49 starts and his stake earnings amount to just on £lB.OOO.

He was bred by Mr Bagrie, who has always trained and driven him. A deposit has been paid on behalf of the syndicate. Completion of the sale, which was arranged in Christchurch tonight by Mr Noel Simpson, is subject to Orbiter passing a veterinary test.
