RUSH JOBS ON CARS
Panel-Beaters Busy Park’s Garage had done more than 50 rush panel-beat-ing jobs over the ChristmasNew Year holiday period, said one of its staff (Mr E. J. Clark) yesterday. Most of the jobs, he said, were crumpled mudguards and suspension troubles. They were “medium size” jobs in the £6O to £7O category. The demand for rush jobs for those who wanted to get back on the road quickly had come from motorists from all parts of New Zealand and two were Australians. “We had one in from Australia this afternoon.” he said. The big demand for panel beating work this Christmas, said Mr Clark, meant that most of the cars went back on the road unpainted. All they wanted while the holidays were on was to be made mobile again. The pressure on Christchurch panel-beating resources was accentuated by some of the workshops using skeleton staffs. Mr Clark said that his firm had three full-time panel beaters on the'job.
