Churchill Fund Now £231,355
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 10. The Winston Churchill Memorial Fund, which closed officially in October, reached £231,355 on December 23.
\ This is less than half of the i £500,000 target set at the bei ginning of 1965. A spokesman for the Internal Affairs Department said today that contributions from local authorities made up most of the total. Contributions of £303 and £582 were received in November and December, respectively. Although the fund was still open for contributions he ex-
pected these to become sporadic. Most of the local authority funds had been received. “We are hoping some of the larger firms will come forward to boost the appeal,” he said.
