PACIFIC TOUR
I Pope Has Hopes (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 10. During a meeting with New Zealand bishops Pope Paul had said he hoped in the future to make an extended tour which would include some place in the Pacific, said the Auxiliary Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland (the Most Rev. R. J. Delargey) just back from the final session of the Vatican Council in Rome. He said the Pope received five Roman Catholic bishops during their visit. “The Pope expressed his satisfaction at the vitality of the Catholic Church in New Zealand and at the eagerness with which we were involved in the new outgoing, rather than parochial, interests of the church,” said Bishop Delargey. “He said he hoped one day to make a more extended tour and that he hoped then to put foot in some place in the South Pacific.”
