Life-Jackets Saved Scouts
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 9. Three Australian scouts, at the progress jamboree at I Trentham, yesterday learned ] the value of wearing life-jac- , kets. Without them they could ; have drowned in choppy wat- . ers at Paraparaumu Beach. . The scouts, Brian Dunstan. > Howard Briggs and Ray Hughes, all from Brisbane, were on their way to fishing • grounds in a 15ft open motor launch shortly after 1 p.m. when a freak roller hit them. The launch sank but the 1 scouts, with the aid of their, ,! life-jackets, were able to swim j I ashore.
