The daughter of a former Empire Games champion won three events in the Australia v. New Zealand Universities swimming contest at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday.

She is Miss Christine Whillier, aged 17, of Sydney, whose mother, Evelyn de Lacey, won the 110 yards freestyle at the 1938 Empire Games.

On Saturday, Miss Whillier won the 100 metres butterfly. 100 metres breaststroke, and the 200 metres individual medley. She was also a member of a winning Australian relay team, and gained third place in the diving.

The match will be continued in Sydney a week from yesterday. Points at the end of yesterday’s series were.—Men: Australia 46, New Zealand 37. Women: New Zealand 45. Australia 29.

Money Stolen.—A handbag was stolen from a car parked in the drive of a house in Hagley avenue early yesterday morning, and £3 18s taken. The handbag has been recovered by the police.
