DISMISSED APPEAL
Penalty Rise Sought
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND
The Auckland District Committee dismissed an appeal by the stipendiary steward, Mr J. A. Poulsen, against the decision A. Poulsen, against the decision of the Te Aroha Jockey Club to suspend the Takanini jockey, B. F. Andrews, for one riding day. Mr Poulsen sought a more severe penalty. Andrews had been charged with causing interference in the Flying Thousand at Te Aroha on December 11. His one day suspension was applied at the Waipa meeting on December 15.
The Te Rapa apprentice, B. K. Long, was fined £lO for causing interference at the same meeting. The district committee cancelled the fine but Long was suspended from riding today at Thames. But for his excellent previous record, said the committee. Long would have been suspended for a longer period.
