Elderly Driver
The way Herbert Townsend, of Invercargill, is driving, he could be the first 100-year-old driver's licence holder. Almost 94 now, Mr Townsend staggered city corporation - traffic inspectors by gaining a 100 per cent pass when he went for a driving test yesterday.—(P.A.) Still Missing The television set which was stolen from the guest Ibunge of the British Hotel, Lyttelton, <m Monday afternoon, is still missing. There .have been no more international code signals from the flag-staff of the hotel and the thief has apparently turned a blind eye to any signals. The only flag hoisted yesterday was the New Zealand merchant service ensign, similar to the “red duster” except for the stars. Investigations are continuing.
Tigers For Zoo * Two seyen-morith-old tigers, male and female, are on their way from Adelaide Zoo, where they were born, to Wellington Zoo. The tigers, which left on Monday in the ' vessel Katga, will be the first at Wellington Zoo for some years. Ofi arrival on Saturday, they will be kept in a small enclosure until they are familiar with their surrpundings. They will then be transferred to their big enclosure.— (PA.)
