Mr Justice McCarthy, a Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, visited the Old Bailey yesterday. He sat on the bench with Mr Justice Nield who was presiding over a charge of rape.—London, Tune 16.
Dr. Nicholas Kurti, reader in physics at the University of Oxford, will visit New Zealand next week under the auspices of the British Council. He will be in Christchurch on June 26, and will lecture in the physics department of Canterbury University.—(P_A.)
Mr S. T. Mahony of the “Evening Post,” has been elected chairmaq of the Parliamentary Press Gallery. The vice-chairman is Mr P. J. Scherer, of the “New Zealand Herald,” and the treasurer Mr E. W. Benton, of South Pacific News Service.—(P.A.)
