RAILWAY STILL CLOSED

Big Slip May Be Cleared Today

Minor slips on the Main Trunk railway line between Claverley and Oaro were cleared yesterday, but the large slip near the Amur! tunnel kept the line closed. A spokesman for the Railways Department said last evening that extra machines had been brought in to help with the clearing, and now that the smaller slips were cleared all the machines would be concentrated on the large slip near the tunnel.

The machines would work all through the night, and if there was no more rain it was hoped to have the line cleared by 5.30 p.m. today. In the meantime buses were carrying train passengers.
