(W2. Press Association) OAMARU, May 15. “Everyone in New Zealand should read Lord Cobham’s recent statement on education,” Mr W. Hunter, headmaster of the Marchweil School, told former pupils of the Maheno School who attended the eighty-fifth anniversary celebrations of their school at the week-end. “People should read anything that is recorded by Lord Cobham for it is well worth while and to the point,” he said. “He is not frightened to say what he thinks.” Lucky Country “Lord Cobham is a capable speaker and a brilliant writer, and New Zealand is extremely fortunate to have such a clear-thinking, brilliant man as its GovernorGeneral,” Mr Hunter said. “We have raced through the horse, car, aeroplane and jet age,” said Mr Hunter, “and now we are on the threshold of the space age. “We at school have to train children to face up to
the requirements of the nsw age—and it requires more than reading, waiting, and arithmetic* he. said.
