34 FRAUD CHARGES

Woman Land Agent

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 14. A woman land agent. Ellen Mary Nixon, aged 42. admitted 34 charges of fraudulently converting to her own use £9549 given to her in her capacity as a land agent in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court on Friday. Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., was told by the police prosecutor (Mr G A. Dallow) that none of the money, which was mostly put up by young couples buying land for housing, could be found. On hearing evidence that suggested Nixon’s mind might be affected, the Magistrate remanded her under the Mental Health Act for four weeks or longer if necessary for observation pending sentence.
