N.Z. BEER PROCESS

Interest Of Formosans

(N.Z. Press Association) PAUWERSTON NORTH. May 14. The continuous fermentation process for the manufacture of beer, as evolved in New Zealand and now spreading to many parts of the world, will be established in Formosa, where a pilot plant similar to those in Australia and the Philippines will be set up. This will be the direct re. suit of the visit to Palmerston North in the last two days of the manager of the Taipe Brewery <Mr T. P. Wen), its chief chemist (Mr K. L. Hsu), and mechanical engineer (Mr F. L. Lin). The visit of the party came after last year’s exploratory mission by Mr D. K. Wu, director of the Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Bureau. Mr Wu was so impressed with the New Zealandevolved fermentation process that he decided to send his technical officers for a more-detailed investigation.
