PLUNKET DANCE AT KAIAPOI
Very Successfid Function Held
Because the combined beauty contest and dance, arranged by the Kaiapoi branch and sub-branches of the Plunket Society to assist with raising funds for the Karitane Hospital Building Fund, proved so successful the committee is giving consideration to making the event an annual one with the beauty contest being to choose a “Miss North Canterbury” instead of a “Miss Kaiapoi.” The dance was one of the biggest held in the Kaiapoi Returned Services' Association Hall for many years, according to the organisers. Eight girls competed for the honour of being Miss Kaiapoi, with Miss Judy Boyce. Amberley, being selected. The gross takings for the dance were nearly £9O.
