The Government was using electricity accounts to “levy another subtle form of taxation." the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash) said ioday He was commenting on the Government's decision to approve increased power charges from October 1. “The Minister of Electricity (Mr Goosman) says the national electricity bill will rise by a little more than £1 million a year The evidence is that the tax will be much more." Mr Nash said. “The Minister ot Health (Mr Shelton) says hospital charges are to be increased for our older people. “The Postmaster-General says that postal charges, in spite of the surplus provided by the department, may be increased. “The Minister of Education says school milk should be abolished. If the Government approves, then £750.000 per annum will be another charge on the household accounts. “The sub-committee considering subsidies has not yet reported its findings for consideration by the Cabinet and the Government. “There are many other hidden charges looming. "These taxes are mainly charges on family income, and the suggestion that death duties are to be reduced does nothing to help the workingclass family." Mr Nash saul
