South Brighton Red Cross

The president of the Nor'h Canterbury Centre of the Red Cross Society (Mrs R. I. Brake) presided at the recent annual meeting of the South Brighton sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. During the year members had assisted with the Good Neighbour Service, the street appeal, visiting patients at Burwood Hospital, and entertaining elderly folk at parties, the annual report said. Garments had been made for distribution among needy families. The following officers, were elected:—President, Mrs E. Stringer; vice - presidents, Mesdames V. T. Haughey, J. T. Birman and M. A. Jackson: secretary, Mrs R. E. Cutler; treasurer. Mrs B. T. Simons: committee, Mesdames H. Lincoln. D. Moultrie, M. J. Davis, A. Holland. A. Ashcroft. F. Fowler. Miss E. A. Morton; Junior Red Cross Liaison Officer, Mrs E. Stringer.
