CHILDREN HOLD FAIR
Proceeds For Home Of Compassion Three Christchurch girls held a fair on Saturday and raised £9 7s 7d for children in the Home of Compassion. Wellington. The girls. Madena O'Sullivan <l3). Marylin O’Sullivan <9>. and Carol Milligan <lll. have been working for the fair, which they held at the O’Sullivan home in Blenheim road, for some months. The fair included a flower show and a dolls show (with an admittance charge of a penny for each), produce, cakes, sweets, and soft drinks stalls. After three hours’ business they had sold out.
The girls began planning the fair in the Christmas holidays when they made a vegetable garden. By selling the vegetables to their parents they raised enough money to buy materials for making sweets' baskets and other items for the fair.
The O’Sullivan children’s great-aunt is a sister at the Wellington Home of Compassion and they will send the proceeds from the fair to her to use for the children cared for in the home.
