ECHO SIGHTINGS TO END
Satellite Visible Tonight
should be the last night on which the American balloon satellite, Echo One. will be easilv visible,” said Mr C. S. L. Keay, a lecturer at the University of Canterbury last evening. The satellite would cross the north-western sky from the west at 6.33 pm, to the north at 6.49 p m., he said. “Echo has remained visible for a week longer than I anticipated a fortnight ago and its continued appearance has brought many inquiries," said Mr Keay.
“Its visibility has been prolonged by the seasonal lengthening of the evenings .and because the orbit has not moved westward as rapidly as I expected. The number of inquiries has shown that there are many persons following the movements of the satellite, including some school classes doing their own day-by-day time predictions*" said Mr Keay.
