DISEASE AMONG CATS
Feline Enteritis Feline enteritis, a virus disease which affects cats between the ages of four and 12 months, is more noticeable at this time of the year than at any other time. This is because cats breed more in the spring, and the number of cats in the age group affected by the disease is increased.
A Christchurch veterinary surgeon said yesterday that feline enteritis was the most serious disease affecting cats. As soon as a cat missed a meal, advice should be sought, and If this was done early enough the cat could be cured. The disease was otherwise fatal, and the cat would wander away and die very quickly. In Auckland the disease has reached epidemic proportions, and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has been forced to discontinue its homes-for-cats service indefinitely.
