A.L.P. And Castro
Sir, —A busy friend of mine who was able to scan only the headlines in the pages of “The Press” on Saturday asked me during the day if I had noticed a report that the Australian Labour Party supported
Castro; and he said he was greatly disappointed to have ; read this. I was able to i assure him that the headline ; he had read—“A.L.P. Supi port for Castro”—was badly ! misleading, and that the re- . port printed below showed ■ that a move by a Left-wing t element to support the Castro , Government had, in fact, , been overwhelmingly de- '■ feated by the Federal Par- > liamentary Labour Party. I i would suggest that more care I should be taken in headlines i to present a true summary ' of what follows. —Yours, etc., C.H.C. April 23. 1961. ’ [The error, a typographical [ one, is regretted. The heading written by the ’ sub-editor was: “No A.L.P. Support For Castro.” Ed., “The Press.”]
