PLANS OF Y.M.C.A.
Wide Range Of Activities A full programme of visits, excursions and other activities has this year been planned by the Christchurch branch of the Young Men’s Christian Association to cater for the many hundreds of members who will soon embark on their school holidays. From the morning of May 8 until late on May 18 members from the various city and suburban groups will have a choice of activities ranging from film shows, visits to the National Airways Corporation workshops at Harewood and Wigram, to talcing part in a four day non-residential camp at Motukarara. Other events will include several all-day boat trips, one of which will be to Port Levy, a Junior Boys’ “Olympics'’ field day at Rugby Park, a junior leaders’ training day at Woodend and a camp reunion at the city headquarters of the Y.M.C.A. for all former campers. The Motukarara camp is expected to be the outstanding part of the fortnight's programme and will be attended by approximately 100 boys from the city and outlying area. Activities will include outdoor and indoor games, competitions, films, short daily devotional periods and other events. The camp will, be run by the youth department of the Christchurch Y.M.C.A. in association with voluntary leaders and secretaries ot the various Christchurch branches.
The organiser of the holiday programme (Mr D. M. Buist) said yesterday that as some of the events had necessarily been restricted to a limited number of individual clubs, it would not be possible for members to take part in activities not listed with their own groups.
