SCHOOL MILK SCHEME

Opposition To Abolition (N.z Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 26. The Labour Party would use every Parliamentary means to ensure the continuity of milk supplies to school children and it would take every step required to eliminate any alleged waste, said the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash) today, replying to the Minister of Education <Mr Tennent), who, in an article, advocated the discontinuance of the school milk scheme. Mr Nash said that the opinions and conclusions of Dr. Muriel Bell, the Department of Health nutritionist, as to the need and advantages of the milk to the children, had, not in any way been rebutted. The curtailment of the sup-! ply would have a major detrimental effect on those children most in need. I An overwhelming majority of parents and members of school committees was opposed to any change, said Mr Nash.
