Students To Roll Barrel From Timaru To City
A beer barrel will be rolled from Timaru to Christchurch and an attempt will be made to establish a new bed-push-ing marathon record around Hagley Park by students of Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, this week. These are two of the most spectacular stunts organised as a preliminary to Capping Week. Proceeds will be given to the Cholmondeley Children's Memorial Home. Events will get under way today when “Viscount Cholmondeley” arrives at the Christchurch airport, where he will be welcomed by the airport manager (Mr A. L R. Jamieson). Traffic officers will provide a motor-cycle escort into the city. “Viscount will speak from toe he*«Tmr of the United Service Hotel.
