Psychiatric Services
Sir, —From the letters of rebellion which this correspondence has brought forth, I can only conclude that man rebels at truth as in the days of the early psychiatrists —most of them died violent deaths at the hands of the rebels. But this is not permitted today. Furthering my inquiries into the position at Queen Mary Hospital, I find that only recently some of the residents of Hanmer have had a meeting to discuss how they can assist at the hospital to help in the care of the patients because of shortage of staff. Putting aside the enormous cost of running this place—don’t forget the Minister of Health wants more such institutions—what of the staffing? And so, finally, what is the solution?—Yours, etc., PAUL.
