Treason Trial For Nuwar
(Rec. 12.30 a.m.) AMMAN, May 6. Major-General Ali Abu Nuwar, the Jordan Army Chief of Staff who fled to Syria at the height of the Jordan crisis, will be tried for treason by a special court if he returns, according to the British United Press today. Also for trial are his successor, Major-General Hiyari, who also fled to Syria, and Colonel Mah-moud-el-Moussa, the former intelligence chief. This was disclosed today by the Jordan “strong man,” Mr Suliman Toukan, the Defence Minister and Governor-General-
He said that about 12 officers had been arrested and were in prison.
